Darmian has failed to hold down a regular starting place since signing for £12.7million from Torino in 2015.

And now Tuttomercato reports the 29-year-old is keen on a return to Serie A despite interest from Premier League strugglers Fulham.

New Cottagers boss Claudio Ranieri wants to tighten up his leaky defence in a bid to beat the drop.

Fulham have conceded a league-high 36 goals this season.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah, on loan from Manchester United, has failed to impress at Craven Cottage – and Darmian could be seen as an upgrade by Ranieri.
