The host city of the Copa Libertadores final second leg has changed, but police still fear violence as 400 to 500 violent supporters are expected in Madrid.

There have been 20,000 tickets sold to each club’s fans and 10,000 are expected to come from Argentina.

Police officials in Madrid continue to work with those in Buenos Aires.

“We are working on maximum security at the airport, roads, bus stations and metro to detect violent people and those with a criminal record,” said Jose Manuel Rodrigo Urbes, a government delegate.

“We don’t know how many have tickets, and we know the vast majority of Argentines will come to enjoy football.

“We have to make sure this violent minority cannot harm this football festival.

“We are working to keep everyone on their own side.

“There will be two fan zones and we hope it’s a festival that gives a positive image to the world and that shows Spain guarantees safety at football.”

The match takes place on Sunday evening, with kick-off at 20:30 CET.
