Southampton are preparing to sell out-of-favour striker Manolo Gabbiadini in January, according to reports.

The Italian has scored just twice in 2018 and is behind Danny Ings and Charlie Austin in the Saints pecking order.

It is understood the Premier League club want to recuperate the £14million fee they paid Napoli for him in January 2017.

Italian publication Calciomercato claim the 26-year-old is likely to return to Serie A with Lazio, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and AC Milan all understood to be interested in his services.

Gabbiadini made a flying start to his Southampton career, scoring six goals in his first four appearances. Two of those strikes came in the EFL Cup final, which the Saints lost 3-2 to Manchester United at Wembley.

But he failed to replicate that stunning form and is set to depart St Mary’s in the forthcoming months.
