The fan who attacked Boca’s bus

Martin Firpo, a River Plate fan who attacked the Boca Juniors bus ahead of the Copa Libertadores final second leg, has acknowledged his mistake and expressed regret.

The final has been postponed twice now and will be played in Madrid this coming weekend.

Ahead of the match at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Firpo has admitted to feeling sorry for what unfolded.

“It was a moment where I didn’t know how to control an impulse,” he said as he awaits a trial that could see him sentenced to two years and four months in prison.

“And, in truth, I regret it.”

Perhaps because of the regret he has shown, the aggressor has been able to reach an agreement with the judge overseeing the case and has been released pending the trial.
