Who are the two best central defenders in the world?

Published

on

As part of the continued #OncedelKO promotion to select a world XI, MARCA is asking just who the best two central defenders in world football are at this precise moment.

With the bracket having been comprised of 16 different names from the beginning, the voting has now whittled the shortlist down to just four.

Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane of Real Madrid make up half of the list, whilst they are joined by Barcelona‘s duo of Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti.

Jan Oblak, Dani Carvajal and Marcelo have already been voted into the best XI, and it now remains to be seen who joins them.

After more than 120,000 votes, Ramos and Pique just edged past Diego Godin and Leonardo Bonucci in their respective bracket matchups, whilst Umtiti and Varane overcame Mats Hummels and Thiago Silva.

In order to vote for your own defensive pair, choose a winner from each matchup and put the two names in a social media post alongside the hashtag #OncedelKO .
