World Cup 2018: Germany, Brazil

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, believes that notwithstanding the poor start exhibited by Germany and Brazil in their opening games at the World Cup, their chances of making it into the next stage will not be overly affected.

Defending champions Germany looked disjointed as they were surprisingly beaten 1-0 by Mexico in an enthralling Group F encounter in Moscow.

Five-time winners Brazil shared points with Switzerland in their Group E match in Rostov-on-Don drawing 1-1.

In a post-match interview on Russia Today, the Portuguese tactician said the outcome of Sunday’s matches made the day an “amazing day for football”.

“It’s probably good for them to put their feet on the ground.”

“They will qualify, and the best of these top teams will come in the knockout,” he said.

“I think they all know how good they are. I think they all know they are going to improve.

“It’s probably good for their countrymen also to keep calm.”

Germany will next meet Sweden on Saturday, after which Brazil play Costa Rica.
